So just one little interesting note is that Americans traveling to Europe, we love them, they've all got the wrong currency on their card, that's up 10% over last year. So that's really exciting.

You know, so we, we've, we've seen a strong, like I said, this Q2 with EFT kind of, you know, compared to last year, it looks kind of flattish, but that's just because last year's number was extraordinary. And, uh, But we're looking at Q3 being back to strong numbers. So we don't have any concerns with respect to travel.

Curious what you're seeing over in Europe on the ATM side. Any early read on summer travel or consumer spending over there? How's it coming in according to plan?

You know, there have been some people who've hypothesized because of the U.S.' 's stance towards Europe and some Europeans afraid to come here. Maybe they'll vacation at home instead of in the U.S. or whatever. But I think that's all on the edges. What we've seen so far is everything seems to be lining up like we thought. Very similar to last summer, but there will be more travelers this summer.

It's the same kind of thing that we saw in North Africa with Morocco and in Egypt and the same thing we see in Malaysia and the Philippines. Lots of DCC opportunities there. Lots of travelers just traversing those geographic areas.

The strong results in the EFT were made possible due to continued improvement in travel trends across Europe, strong performance from our merchant services business, expansion into new markets, and the rationalization of our ATM estate together with effective expense management.

In EFT, prior to COVID, our financial results were largely tied to how many people traveled in Europe during the summer months. While the travelers are still important to our annual results, we are seeing the diversification of our revenue and earnings contributions from non-tourist-related ATM transactions in Europe, from ATM transactions in new markets outside of Europe, and POS transactions in our merchant acquiring business, and the benefit of new acquisitions such as Infintium.

We have realized success in several new markets around the globe. Investments we made during the pandemic and over the last few years are paying off very well in 2024. Now a few examples of what contributed to the quarterly results. We discussed the merchant services business as a key strategic acquisition. So how did it perform in the first quarter of 2024? Well, let me tell you. EVA. grew nearly 40% compared to the prior year first quarter. This is a great example of how our management team continues to capitalize on strategic growth opportunities. We're adding new ATMs and new markets outside of Europe over the last few years. Our largest of these is the Philippines. We opened the Philippines in late 2019, and we saw very impressive results until COVID hit. We didn't believe that COVID would last forever, so we grew our ATM estate even with weak travel numbers through 2023. Now that travel has seen a significant recovery there, our first quarter 2024 EBITDA grew 151% compared to the first quarter of 2023.

You might remember that in the summer of 2023, we saw inflation in Europe taking a bite out of the spend for holiday travel. 2023's reduced spend per tourist was a surprise to us, just as it was to the credit and debit card acquirers throughout Europe. What you can see by this graph is the easing of inflation and wage growth this year and projected forward. And the fact is, none of us know exactly what this summer will bring, so we have to temper our enthusiasm a bit, but the data points are all pointing north. You can see that wages continue to grow while inflation has continued to decline. Coupled with more money in holiday travelers' pockets, we anticipate an optimistic outlook for travel and travel spend. Along with this trend in wage growth and easing of inflation, we have seen several positive travel reports predicting growth in international travel in the spring and summer travel seasons.

As we have referenced, the positive travel outlook from the major airlines, the airports, and notably the world travel organizations, The outlook from these sources all seems to say the same thing. The spring and summer travel season in Europe is predicted to exceed the prior year.

And I can look forward to growth across all three segments in 2024 because of the momentum we gained in the fourth quarter, along with several strong drivers that are in place, which include Inflationary pressures are easing while wages are growing as we look forward to the 2024 travel season. We see opportunities for pricing increases, particularly in the EFT segment.

The increase in unrestricted cash and cash equivalents is mainly due to cash generated from operations of 98 million, the return of 75 million in cash from our ATMs following the peak travel season, and working capital fluctuations partially offset by $54 million in share repurchases and the issuance of a $60 million convertible note receivable.
