In response to higher fuel cost environment, we've begun to adjust capacity downward by approximately five points throughout the rest of the year. we now expect Q3 and Q4 capacity to be flat to up approximately 2%. Our adjustments removed marginal capacity on off-peak days and flight times such as red eyes, which we believe will fuel our recovery of fuel prices increases in the second half of 2026.

Our first focus will be new seasonal capacity shaping of our long haul schedule. Peak demand for international travel has spread from the second and third quarters to other parts of the year. As a result of this shift, we expect the fastest-grown quarter for United's international capacity to be Q1 in 2026, with minimal growth in Q3.

We work closely with FAA leadership to swiftly implement the reductions, and we want to thank them for their partnership. At United, we were intentional with how we made these cuts. From the start, our priority was protecting the integrity of our network. We made a clear decision not to cut long-haul international and hub-to-hub flying. Those flights are the backbone of our network and aided in retaining connectivity and flexibility for our customers. We focused on direct reductions where we could minimize customer impact with a majority of cuts concentrated on regional fly-in and non-hub domestic routes with smaller, narrow-body aircraft. In many cases, that meant trimming frequency on routes where there were multiple daily options rather than eliminating connectivity altogether. Where we could, we consolidated fly-in and fewer departures with larger aircraft to move the same number of customers more efficiently and reducing further disruption.

Just on the corporate travel comments, you've noted a lot of strength there in January so far, and I actually think that's your most difficult comp of the quarter. So if you could just talk about how things change throughout 1Q.

In 2026, we'll adjust how peaked our summer capacity plan is by ending the summer schedule a week early, operating 15% fewer red-eye flights, and cutting more capacity from the July 4th holiday, to name a few, in pursuit of higher margins.

One is we have advanced screens on the vast majority of our fleet. We need advanced screens to be able to personalize service and deliver content in the way that we're going to be doing in the future, which we can obviously make service for our customers better, travel with less friction, but also monetize some media sales.

As yields soften throughout the quarter, we double down on expense management to ensure we hit our EPS guidance.

I don't think we'll take it up, but, well, I know we're not planning to take it up because taking it up, you know, drives things at the flight training center, just drives a lot of other complexities. It's just not worth it. I think the other thing that we will, I know that we're going to do now going forward is build a little hedge into our, build a bigger hedge into our schedule. And like, if we think we're going to take 100 airplanes this year, we're going to only put 90 or some lower number into the schedule. And, you know, if everything is on time and on plan, then we'll have a few extra spares around for a couple of months. That may, you know, that'll cost a little bit, but it doesn't cost nearly as much as overstaffing by 40 airplanes. And so, I think it will give us not just certainty on CapEx, it'll give us a lot more operational certainty for running everything better and more efficiently.

One, there are a large segment of customers for whom change fees trumps everything else, particularly small business travelers, what I call domestic road warriors. And when we had change fees and we had a large competitor that didn't, they would choose that large competitor. Even though all of our advantages may have existed, the change fees trumped it. It turns out that segment of the traveling public appears to be even larger than I appreciated. And we're now winning them because our national advantages win. So we've closed off that breach.

I echo Scott's gratitude for all United who worked so hard. Travel plans were affected by the grounding of our MAX 9 fleet.

In September, the FAA granted extensions to the New York airspace waivers, allowing the ability to maintain a reduced flight schedule at Newark that will help minimize air traffic delays through the rest of the year.

Looking ahead to 2024, we feel good about the core fundamentals of our expenses. However, we are facing sizable headwinds with labor, an expectation of a new flight attendant agreement, and continued higher maintenance expense.
